Things are going great with you and your partner. You definitely have a magnetic attraction and there’s no doubting that you enjoy each other’s company. Yet, you can’t help but wonder if your partner is deeply in love with you.

People come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime and you want to know which category your partner falls into. Is this a passionate, short-term fling or is your partner truly, deeply in love with you. Could they even be your soulmate?

Here are 11 Signs Your Partner is Deeply in Love With You

  • They believe in you.
  • They’re on your team.
  • They never belittle you.
  • They talk about the future (and you’re in it.)
  • They don’t play games.
  • They think of you often when you’re not together.
  • They put effort into gifts.
  • They appreciate you.
  • They’re fully relaxed around you.
  • They trust you.
  • They can discuss differences openly.

1. They Believe in You

When your partner is deeply in love with you, they believe in you. And by “you” I mean “the two of you.” Of course, your partner believes in you personally, but in this context, we’re referring to your partnership.

Many relationships face difficulties – cultural differences, long-distance separations, non-approving family members… However, when your partner is deeply in love with you, they believe in the strength of your relationship and they know that your love can endure the struggles you face.

2. They’re On Your Team

When your partner is deeply in love with you, there’s no doubting that they’re on your team. That doesn’t mean that you both agree on every single topic or issue – even couples who are deeply in love don’t agree on certain things.

What it does mean is that when you get good news, your partner feels it as strongly as you do. They’re over-the-moon excited and happy for you. They don’t make it about them or make passive-aggressive comments.

Being on your team means that if you’re having a tough time at work, your partner supports you. They help you look for constructive solutions and don’t make you feel like you’re the problem.

When your partner is deeply in love with you and on your team, you’ll feel it. You’ll know deep down inside if they’re on your team or not.

3. They Never Belittle You

When you’re deeply in love with someone the last thing you want to do is hurt them. Instead, you want to uplift them and make them feel like they can be and do anything they desire.

Belittling means making someone feel inferior or unimportant – the opposite of being uplifting and encouraging. A partner who is deeply in love with you will never belittle you.

4. They Talk About the Future (And You’re In It)

One of the biggest signs that your partner is deeply in love with you is that when they talk about their future, you feature prominently in it.

If someone asks your partner what their 5-year life plan is, there’s no doubt in their mind that you’re in it. They love you so strongly and deeply that they don’t even want to imagine life without you.

5. They Don’t Play Games

Playing games is common in a new relationship. Not answering a text message immediately (even though your phone is constantly in your hand,) or occasionally pretending you’re “too busy” to meet up are all pretty normal.

But when you’re in a strong, committed relationship and love each other deeply, there’s no reason to play those sorts of games.

6. They Think of You Often When You’re Not Together

A strong relationship includes spending time apart (1). It’s important that you maintain friendships with other people and allow yourself to be an individual outside of your relationship.

And while you don’t have to be thinking about each other constantly, when you’re deeply in love with someone you’ll find that they appear frequently in your thoughts.

7. They Put Effort Into Gifts

When it’s your birthday, anniversary, or another special occasion, what gift does your partner give you? Is it obvious that a lot of thought has been put in or is it always just a last-minute gift?

The monetary value of a gift isn’t important – as the saying goes “it’s the thought that counts.”

When someone is deeply in love with you, they want to express that and a great way of doing that is by choosing a gift that they know you’ll love – something that shows they’re thinking of you and paying attention to who you are and what you like.

8. They Appreciate You

Feeling appreciated is important in a relationship – in fact, some experts believe it’s the key to any relationship (2).

One of the signs that your partner is deeply in love with you is that they show you appreciation and never take you – or the things you do – for granted.

This appreciation makes you feel loved and valued, which is exactly how a partner who is truly in love with you wants you to feel.

9. They Trust You

Strong relationships are built on a foundation of trust. Being able to trust your partner implicitly allows you to feel happy, relaxed, and at ease in your relationship.

There’s no snooping around in email inboxes or sneaking into their phone and checking text messages – none of that is required because you trust your partner.

When your partner is deeply in love with you they have no reason to do things like snooping around your email inbox or checking your text messages when you’re in the shower – they trust you (and they respect your right to privacy.)

10. They Respect Your Right to Privacy

That leads to the next sign that your partner is deeply in love with you – they respect your right to privacy.

Here’s a personal anecdote on this point – years ago I was in a relationship with someone who had no respect for my right to privacy. Despite the fact that I’d been completely faithful for the entire relationship, this person had no trust. They would constantly ask to read my text messages and when I said no, they took that as a sign of “guilt” rather than respecting my right to privacy.

As it turns out, my partner was the one who was cheating on me and they were projecting their insecurities about being “caught” onto me. Needless to say, the relationship ended and I’ve since met and married my soulmate.

When your partner is deeply in love with you, they respect that you have a right to privacy. They don’t feel the need to read every boring text message between you and your boss or every gossipy text between you and your friends – they know that you have a life and conversations outside of them and they understand and respect that.

11. They Can Discuss Differences Openly

While you and your partner may have a lot in common, no two people are exactly the same. Everyone has their differences, from minor things like your favorite pizza toppings to major differences like your political beliefs or religion.

While some differences may be insurmountable, minor differences of opinion, when discussed openly and without judgment, can easily be overcome. When your partner is deeply in love with you they can openly discuss differences without judging you or making you feel “wrong” or belittled.

In Summary

Do you recognize any of these signs that your partner is deeply in love with you? If so, there’s a good chance that you’ve found the person you are meant to spend the rest of your life with. If so, then why not get excited about your future together by writing a couple’s bucket list!
